How does one decide what's needed? Which component is best? That's where we come in. Trying to sort out a system without help can be a nightmare, so seek professional help from Suttons! With many years of experience in all areas of audio and video reproduction in the home, we'll do our best to put together your dream system.

What you need to do:

• Have a think about what you'd like the system to do. Don't worry about which components are needed - that follows later.
  Typical things to consider are:
  • Do you mainly want a system for music, possibly playing an occasional film, or do you want to recreate the Odeon Leicester Square in your room, playing music from time to time?
  • Do you want sound and/or vision distributed to other rooms?
  • Do you need an FM tuner, or possibly digital radio?
  • Do you want to record? Is a cassette recorder really needed, or would a CD recorder be more appropriate?
• Are there any special circumstances we need to know about:
  • Equipment must be hidden.
  • Finish must match existing furniture.
  • Limited space for speaker placement.
  • Cables must be hidden.
  • Existing equipment to be connected.

Demonstration

Once you have a list of suitable equipment, a demonstration is the best way to make further decisions. Source components normally have the greatest effect on performance, and we can play the alternatives, working through the system until the best performance has been achieved. By booking a demonstration in advance, we can ensure that the equipment is ready and warmed up for you to assess.

Installation

Once you have purchased your equipment, there are two choices. Install it yourself or have us install the system for you. With us installing the equipment, you can be assured of everything being set up to its best advantage, with speaker spikes correctly set, and interconnect and speaker leads fitted with correct directionality.

More experienced customers may be happy to install components themselves, but for less experienced users, and for larger systems, we would suggest you take advantage of our expertise in assembling the system.

After sales

After sales covers a wide range of services:

• Cable upgrades, both speaker and interconnect, including custom leads.
• Equipment upgrades, such as those offered by Arcam.
• Servicing and repair.
• Advice on relocating systems.
• Suggestions on your next move, equipment wise.
• Advice on connection of other equipment, such as computers and satellite and cable TV and radio.
